The Ashtabula County Metropolitan Parks District (The Ashtabula County Metroparks) was
established pursuant to the Ohio Revised
Code by Judge J. Philip Perry in December 1959. The aims of the original board
were to create historical and recreational parks as well as conservation areas.
These aims have not changed throughout the years. The board consists of five
members, appointed by the court, to serve 3-year terms without compensation.
Current members are Charlie Kohli, Brett Joseph, Mike Sords, Tyce Workman, and Nick Kerosky.
What The Ashtabula County Metroparks Do For You:
- The park board works in partnership with Asthabula County, city, village, township and other groups
to promote countywide outdoor recreation, conservation and education.
- We work to insure a well maintained and patrolled environment for park users.
- We leverage federal, state, and other dollars to improve family recreational activities
throughout the county.
- Remember, that much of this is accomplished with a dedicated board of volunteers who have been
and will continue to be critical to all of Ashtabula County Metropark activities. These volunteers
donate their time to mow the Western Reserve Greenway Trail, provide litter control, tree limb
removal, educational events, fundraising and other services. Volunteers include
Ashtabula County Volunteer Bike Patrol, Friends of the Metroparks, Ashtabula County Park Foundation,
Ashtabula County Metropark Board Members, Grand River Trail Riders, and countless other
enthusiastic volunteers.
